hi guys!
my problem is that i am "partly" connected -__-
this seems very weird since i can query someone and i can be whois by anyone on EFnet servers...BUT i can't connect into any channel
NOT a single one on EFnet...
(this same problem is occuring for quakenet,rizon,ogamenet,etc..)
Here is what appears on my connection screen:
*** Creating connection "Efnet"
*** -irc.efnet.pl- *** Looking up your hostname...
*** -irc.efnet.pl- *** Checking Ident
*** -irc.efnet.pl- *** Couldn't look up your hostname
*** -irc.efnet.pl- *** Got Ident response
*** Welcome to the EFNet Internet Relay Chat Network zeke^^
That's all...usually there should be more than that....like the rules etc...
anyone to help?
problem problem problem
Moderators: Website/Forum Admins, EFnet/Help Moderators

So...why didn't you say what IRC client you're using? :P It isn't EFNet's fault since it happens to all servers, so it's your client's fault, so if you want help someone somewhere, will eventually need to know your IRC client. :)

I sell out to The Man everyday!
a firewall shouldn't block specifically the text "/join"
are you trying multiple channels, or only 1-2 channels?
if it was just mirc that was giving you problems, i would say try typing "//remote off" to disable any scripts, then try joining. other than that, have you tried the usual virus and spyware scans?
oh, and the more information you are looking for on connect is the MOTD, which can be disabled on connect in mIRC settings.

I must say, I'm having the same issue. I'm using Trillain IRC and have tried the web chat on efnet.org. It connects however any join requests simply don't go work.
When I connect to any of the servers I get this(stuff in all caps I edited):
****SERVER INFO GOES HERE*****
[10:42] *** :SERVER 403 Lupine164 Lupine1647 :No such channel
No join request has been started as of yet but when I join say channel test I get:
[10:50] *** :SERVER 333 Lupine164 #test woody0 1133067046
After that nothing, no chat window. Then when someone says something in the chatroom the chat window suddenly apears out of no where with that person's reply and the user-list only contains that person who replied in the chat.
This has been happening for a few weeks now and just ignored it.
My system is between a router with inbound IRC blocked but that shouldn't be an issue since other IRC networks on the same port work.
No viruses or spyware are present as well.

Looks like your client does not pick up the real (truncated) nick (the server sends this early in the connection, like Welcome to the EFnet IRC network Lupine164). Try specifying something that fits in 9 characters.Lupine1647 wrote:I must say, I'm having the same issue. I'm using Trillain IRC and have tried the web chat on efnet.org. Also I wouldn't use such sequences of digits in a nick, you may be mistaken for an evil bot and banned from servers.
