If the source was made public, than that would give spammers the opportunity to figure out how to circumvent it.

long answer: hell no.

sorry, but efnet runs several non-opensource service type bots that are customized for the network, most opers and admins will never see the code, so certainly regular lusers have a better chance of seeing jesus.
