I see some admins/opers on the board... So what just happend? I can't seem to get through to any server...

We just suffered a huge DDOS attack stretching to most servers. at this time , VERY FEW are acception external connections. at 8:20PM EDT, 03/08/04, we have 2 CA servers up, and are looking for any others that are alive.... big things happening right now. just sit tight and all will be fixed

I have little doubt this is related to the recent Windows RPC exploit which was discovered, and the posting of source to a "proof of concept" exploit. If anyone has Windows installations, patch them now if you haven't already.

Remember, this isn't the first DDoS attack EFnet has suffered and it wont be the last.

It makes absolutely no sense to me.

Why would someone with the intellegence required to coordinate an attack like that do such a thing? heh

Even when I first started out on IRC and was a bit of a kiddie I would have never thought about attacking the servers. :)

I suppose I'm well endowed enough to not worry about it. ;)

It takes an IQ of about 3 to create/use a packet net.

I taught my girlfriend who couldn't even use MS Word how to do it and she infected my test PC with an sdbot in about 5 minutes.
