For some reason I can't connect to EFnet. It keeps connecting to ROXnet. I'm having the same problem with another server any idea why I would be having the same problem with two servers?
Thanks for your help.

Same question as lucy... what server hostnames are you trying to connect to? Also, this may have some relevance (it seems you aren't the only one that has had this problem):

Looks like you need to figure out how to configure ident to respond to IRC servers. If you are using mIRC, there's an ident server built in and is enabled by default. Identd listens on port 113, and chances are you need to configure your firewall and/or router to allow incoming connections to that port to connect.

So I would specify that port for mIRC?

Problems with ident aren't always totally the fault of your IRC client. Sometimes there is a problem with how you're configured...others it's a problem with how your network responds (e.g. is there a firewall involved, does it allow connections to port 113, etc.). Further information about your client and network setup would be helpful. In the case of an IRC client like mIRC, usually the default settings suffice granted there's nothing blocking requests to port 113. I'd also follow wundr's advice and really pay some close attention to the info in that mIRC message board post. It's quite odd that a connection attempt to irc.nac.net would route you to this ROXnet.
These might also be helpful:

Good luck.

Yes, that is true that he should get that working, but I think the bigger problem here is that he is actually connecting to some other network, called ROXnet, instead of EFNet. I think he may be infected with some kind of trojan that is making him connect to that instead of EFNet...

Well the problem I had with Ident before I fixed by configuring my router for 113 to mIRC. I wasnt having the problem with ROXnet until a few months ago and once in a while it will let me connect to Efnet and Newnet. But I mean like once in about 30 instances of battling with mIRC to close the ROXnet server windows and starting the connection process over again, manually for each server.
I don't think a trojan has any role is this. I've reinstalled and my system is very well protected, antivirus, firewall, mac filtering. I've even gone as far to block some content from certain domains to cut down on malicious code.
I get the feeling that I'm missing something extremely simple that we would all sit back and go "you're kidding" when the problem is finally realized. One thing I've noticed with computers is the symptoms are very few but the problems are almost infinite.
Thanks to all for your input I'll let you know what I come up with.

And for some reason my ip address shows up as 0.1.0.4 - that doesn't seem right to me whatsoever.
Thanks again.

If you're 100% positive it's not some sort of virus/trojan, read up on the Local Info section of the mIRC help file. mIRC is getting that IP from somewhere, and if not the Local Info settings you've specified then from something related to your network config and/or ISP.

is roxnet in your server list...
also do you have selected in your retry options, to try next server in the list?

So I restarted my comp and that fixed the IP problem. No more issues there.
ROXnet is NOT in my server list so I'm not too sure what's going on there.
I'm wondering if I should search for a certain IP that refers to ROXnet. Not too sure though.
I do have it set to try the next server in the list.

also check your servers.ini, make sure something didn't go through and change the host
i believe the name can say "irc.anything.com" but it connects to the hostname listed (/server irc.efnet.org will give notices as irc.efnet.org until you register, then it will say the server you are connected to)
also, try /remote off. this will disable any script that could possibly interrupt your connection attempt to redirect you.
