* Since 92
* Keep #friends up an to stay in touch with old efnet "#friends" and new ones
* Why would anyone leave EFnet? I suppose increasing SPAM bot protection somehow. Some public White or Blacklist of good and bad SPAM bots, or some other means to sort out the two. More Eggdrop friendly servers.
* NICKSERV

hi2you,
i'm on irc and efnet since 1998. Efnet is developing in a good way and i don't see problems with the future. Maybe it should not end like the MSN Messenger with pics and animated ascii-arts, but i think it will not be like that.
The implemention of TS6 was still a very cool run and brought irc to a new mostly netsplit-free generation of irc.

My wishes whould be nicklengh = 8 and no halfop. Noone need more space for his nickname nor halfop. Services like Chanserv and nickserv either.

Symmetria for president.

EFnet'er (Nut'er? :lol: ) since 1995, and it is the first network I was a regular on.

I've noticed a few users who have replied to this thread want longer topics. I concurr, as I am an op on a couple of sports channels and could use the extra length. I do think that 160 characters is enough for most topics that we might post, however, but I do wish the servers on this network would standardize on a topic length...I've noticed a few servers still limit topics to just 120 characters and when posting a long topic, I worry that not all of the users on my channel will be able to see the entire topic.

Longer nicks would be nice too, but that's a minor issue with me. :D

Hey guys, I've been on efnet since 2000.

First off, I would not like any kind of channel/nick services.
I love that efnet doesn't have them.

As for my wishlist:
* +C to block colors/bold/codes from a channel.
* Longer TOPICLEN and MAXLIST.
* SSL would be good.

HELLO RELAY CHAT FRIENDS FROM ACROSS THE NETWORK..

I have been using IRC since 'roundabout 1996/7, and haven't left it since. I suck tremendously.

I don't really have any complaints/suggestions as to how to improve things around here... ..OTHER THAN JUST ONE THING.

JUST ONE.

..and the reason for the departure of many friends of mine to other networks..

DOWN WITH CHANFIX!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, whichever admin thought of this wacky idea and implemented it here on the Eris-free deserves to be shot.

Thanks for the time. Cya.

Hello.

Weather or not I know or have cared to read the ToS plays no role in what my post was about. I was mearly agreeing with lolpewpew's statement that users should have a place to report these issues and be taken seriously. I further quoted another guy telling lolpewpew to just change server - which is a prime example of things like this not being taken seriously. That's not right. No where in my post were I saying that I had experienced this myself.

In any case - let's not ruin the purpose of this thread any further.

I'm taking this thread very seriously, and I know there are others as well.

I've been on efnet since July 1995.

I'm still on efnet mostly because I still have a few friends, and I talk to my husband when he's at work. Yeah, we met on IRC :p

What keeps me from leaving is my friends still being on the network. Duh.

I would leave if my friends left... no one left to talk to means no more fun :p

I've read all of the posts wanting to make efnet more like DALnet, but the nick and channel anarchy is part of the fun :) Longer topic length, and room to ban more trolls would be nice, but I assume this is just a settings change. Half-ops? I don't know what we'd do with that... maybe it would be nice for some of the bigger channels.

Ok bye now!

P.S. SSL would be nice if it doesn't take up too many resources!

1. How long you have been on EFnet
2. Why you are still on EFnet (or why did you leave)
3. What would keep you from leaving
4. What would make you leave EFnet (if implemented)

1. since '97
2. I know people / have a channel ...torrents and p2p finally killed efnet as a tool for finding rls's and ftp accounts etc etc...
3. I have no plans to leave. (KLINE AOL.COM and remove Chanfix)
4. any type of channel and/or nick registration ...new channels rules (half ops and the load of other op like flags other ircd's are running % @ $ etc etc... efnet works i've been on it since blackened was the only one really running the show.

p.s die myspace! I don't care that an enduser can "build a site" hahahah morons

My apologies.

I meant to add a quote by dotslash directed at me in my post. It must've magically been taken away by the underpants gnomes. That wasn't directed to you or the other users.

* Since around 96-97
* Friends
* I'm not going to leave
* I'll know it when I see it.

Things that should be done:
* Please decide on a global TOPICLEN. It's really irritating to set a topic and have it chopped up into little pieces as it makes its way to the various servers.

Things that would be nice, but arn't essential:
* Hostname mangling
* SSL connections

I would have to agree with the topic length. It should be way longer and be the same on all servers.
