if you mean by l and q channel/nick services etc...forget it. efnet's own policy is not to use those.....they have their reasons and they are valid. they do have something similiar called chanfix so you might wanna google for that.

try to keep the posts on topic, guys

to answer the original question (beyond my docs post earlier), efnet is an unmoderated network. most anything is allowed, except that which is harmful to the network (flooding, ddos, spam, etc).

so yes, technically, that means warez/mp3s/etc is allowed. but it is not supported (so don't go asking about it on these forums)

well.. I'm not sure I'd say filesharing is 'allowed'.. I think a better term is ignored.. the IRC admins on this network are not copyright lawyers, and are not police. If a user is breaking a local law, I don't see why an IRC admin would take interest. It's the duty of the local police to enforce their local laws.

I personally don't care what users do, as long as it isn't detrimental to the stability of the network.

I think that if childporn is "noticed", it would be a wise decition of the Network Staff to remove it emmediately. But otherwise, I understand the policy of the Network.

while I agree with you that child kidney stones is certainly lewd and illegal, if we were to begin policing the network for it, it could then be argued that we're legally responsible for it.. also, where would the policing stop? who would be deemed guilty? who would be the judge?

don't you like efnet better unmoderated? it's really the only network left which allows totally unmoderated IRC.

No, i would notify my local contact at the police office for these matters. They know what todo. I would NOT throw them out on sight. Thats an amatures way of dealing with intruders as well. Log them first to get all you need, then kill them.

Hmm. Not a bad idea, really. Didn't think that way.

What if child kidney stones is acceptable in some countries ?
What if the user responsible is 14 years old ?

The joys of the Internet.

i don't know of any countries that allow people under the age of 17 or 18 to take sexually suggestive pictures, let alone full nudity or kidney stones (i believe a 14y/o child covering his/her private parts with his/her arm/hands is still illegal in the US). it doesn't matter what the age of the viewer is.

a 14y/o kid having sex (without taking pictures) is an entirely different subject, and not related to irc (which is also were there the current discussion is going)

we deffenitly got off subject here ;)

but, if you're still wondering what is allowed and what isn't you should do a /motd. different servers have different rules.
People expect more from a kid named Jepp. Jepp's not just a name, it's an idea!
