I am currently using "TheNerD"
Invalid username
Moderators: Website/Forum Admins, EFnet/Help Moderators
Hostmask:
nickname!username@host.name.or.ip
If you're not using alphanumeric characters there, that could be why you're banned.

The "username" setting varies from one IRC client to another. For example with mIRC, whatever you enter in the "E-mail Address" window before the @ becomes your username on IRC (the mIRC Options window).
(Note: The above is true if there is no accessible identd server on your computer, but this is a different topic, so forget about that for the moment).
If a server is rejecting you for having an "Invalid username", make sure you've entered something in the E-mail Address window (mIRC Options), or the equivalent on the client software you're using (if you're not sure how to do this with your existing client, let us know the client version and I'm sure we can help). It's also a good idea to make sure that these characters are alphanumeric only (a-z or 0-9), since some servers reject more exotic characters (simply because other users will see it, and control characters etc. can cause grief for older terminals)
