Hey everyone. I was very much into Efnet and IRC several years ago back when I was in high school. I stopped connecting to IRC during my first two years of college because my dorms had a firewall up that didn't allow it. Now I have my own apt. and my internet access is not restricted. However, I can't seem to connect to any servers. No matter what sever I try to connect to, I get the same message:
[16:59] * Connecting to irc.efnet.us (6667)
[16:59] Local host: ThePro (128.227.22.217)
[16:59] * Unable to connect to server (Connection attempt timed out)
I can connect fine using a java-based website that'll connect to efnet, but it's slow and I'd much prefer to connect using a client. Any ideas? Thanks!
Can't Connect To Any Efnet Servers!

Although irc.efnet.us will resolve to a random EFnet server, it's possible your operating system and client are caching the DNS lookup in such a way where it's actually trying to connect to the same server continuously.
Hence netmunky's suggestion of connecting to a specific server is a good one - try for example irc.servercentral.net, irc.colosolutions.net or irc.eversible.com (disclaimer: my server)
If you're still having a problem, see if your browser is using a proxy for connecting to the Internet. If it does, you need to replicate the proxy configuration in your IRC client. If this is not the case, it's possible your connection attempts to port 6667 are being blocked. Try connecting to irc.choopa.net port 8080
Good Luck,
