Banned?

Postby Virii » Sun Mar 19, 2006 9:22 pm

So I have never been on EFNet before, I just joined today to attempt to join some of the programming channels and I got this message when I tried to join another channel:

[01:19:30] * Alrac sets mode: +b *!*tyler@*.socal.res.rr.com
[01:19:30] * You were kicked by Alrac (Perm Ban for Cloning!!!)
[01:19:30] * Attempting to rejoin channel #mp3addicts
[01:19:30] * Unable to join channel (address is banned)

I have never been on that channel before, nor this network and I dont have any clones I only had one IRC client open.

Also, when I tried to register for these forums, it said that my e-mail address had been permantely banned from the forums, even though I have never been here or registered before.

Can anyone help me as to why my email address (I signed up with my work address now, rather then my personal one, which is banned). or why I am banned from a channel I haev never been in?

as far as the cloning ban in the channel (i don't think that's a programming channel by the way), you'll have to talk to an op from the channel about getting it removed.

as far as the email ban, we disallow many free web based email services as they are often used by spammers and bots for automated signups.

I know that wasn't a programming channel, I was just browsing the network :P

But that makes sense, my e-mail was from yahoo, so all is well if that's the case :)
