I would hate to see the link list flattened (although I believe some servers already do... (limelight, xs4all, etc), or the server hidden in the whois, i think it would end up being like other networks... I could understand your point with full serverhiding but not with flattened links. There is a ...

why not just hide what server a user is using then? i'm suprised efnet hasnt done this already - its already in the code after all. One of the main reasons undernet can do serverhiding and efnet cant is organisation. To do serverhiding, you have to resort to channels for finding opers as you have t...

Sounds good. I think its a good idea to provide ipv6 service also on existing servers, however i dont like the idea of linking in a 2. server with it when you can run dualstack. The code has proven itself stable enough for that. I think whether or not you have a second server will have a big effect...

Re: max bans?

So the script clears the ban list when it gets too large (which is about every half hour) the problem is I can't seem to find any static maximum number of bans allowed. What is this number? Sometimes its 31, sometimes its 29, sometimes its in the 40s. It needs to be in the thousands to be useful ag...

Uhm, It would be faster and faster to do a TESTMASK on connecting clients, than to /msg x@services.xo CLONES 5 every now an then. CLONES shows n!u@h AND is not even a oper-only command, TESTMASK is. Its actually faster to just use global user@host limits ;-). It`s alot of features that would be goo...

I belive the discussion is where do you draw the limit on what you hide into a ircd version. If it just gave the output of local users no one would have said anything, but most draw their limits when it comes to performing global searches of hosts on ircd with no accountability. I honestly dont bel...

On a side note, should this same question be raised about silly spoofed hosts? No IPs are used up, but the point is that the hosts remain silly, and that's the point of why it's considered "pollution." I personally think theyre dumb too, especially considering spoofs are supposed to be about protec...

Id doubt it - the features were supposed to have moved to services.int with services.xo dissapearing a long time ago..

Some EU hubs are running an unpatched 6.4.1, which sends +I modes as +e modes on a netburst, meaning a server connecting there will not get a +I list for channels..

And, the only server i've found with it enabled is homelien, so I was just wondering.
Its enabled on any hyb7/ratbox servers, and the part messages wont propagate through a hyb6 hub [which all of the eu hubs are].

I saw some ident changes i could make serverside on the irc:cgi site, you know if that would help me not getting k-lined on the efnet servers? I dont think theres much you can do to stop yourself getting klined. The fact is, webchats like this get abused - especially if you dont restrict it to one ...

No, change is bad.
Or how about we dont, because not allowing numbers as the first character of a nick makes FNC so much easier should it be implemented in the future. :)

Yeah - its oper only by default. I was probably thinking about kiddies using it to pick servers to attack when I did it..
