1st: Efnet does not like to have additional servers ? We do like additional servers, but the applicants has to apply from somewhere where we *need* servers (i.e Asia or Oceania) and still have a decent amount of bandwidth to avoid getting bankrupt after the second DDoS. Or simply from places where ...

There is no way for the EFnet way servers to "firewall" the ports used on the client end. Remember that the proxy ports has nothing to do with the IRC server, its what port the client machine is listening on for remote connections. The most common way to prevent proxy/socks[4|5]/tor attacks on EFnet...

First of all, this is a very interesting thread and it suprises me to see how some opers feel about this. Here are my thoughts: I've been on IRC for quite a while, long enough to have gotten a very deep look into the view of an average luser AND oper. The thing is, most people tend to think that mos...

Sorry for the late answer as I've not checked this forum lately. I don't want to explain this in detail because most of the oppinions are disclosed between my fellow opers and admins. The idea behind CHANFIX was having 3 unique CHANFIX admins per server, and let every server and admin decide which s...

FYI, there was someone msging me about this yesterday and actually considered to link with EFnet. As there is no decision made yet I don't want to tell the name of the ISP yet. They were awaiting more transit connections within short time and was gonna reconsider linking after the new pending uplink...

Without revealing the inner "secrets" of dronemon, I can give you a short description of the capabilities of this daemon. As far as I know, the source and changelogs of this client is still an "opercircle only" thing. In short terms, this bot can do: - CTCP version matching and D/K-lining of specifi...

Re: Still ain't working
Hi again, I tried all what you said and it still don't work. However, the new problm comes up with is that it says that it has band my hostname. Where can I get that cleared. Here is what it said * Connecting to irc.efnet.net (6667) - -irc.efnet.net- *** Looking up your hostname... - -irc.efnet.net...

Make sure you are not using any non-standard latin letters in the identd field. Also make sure you dont have a dot infront of your desired ident. And I dont think email matters when his client answers ident requests. The problem here seems to be that there is no information in the ident field. The o...

about the best you can do is notify all of your current ops of the situation, and try to keep him banned. if he does succeed in duping one of your ops into giving him ops and he takes over the channel, go straight to your closest oper (/stats p) and request a chanfix for your channel. getting a cha...
Typing /stats p does nothing here btw. edit (which seems to be some strange sysreset thing) Some clients require that you provide the server where you do the stats request. Such as /stats p efnet.demon.co.uk. However, you might want to check your "Status" window if you are using a mIRC type of clie...
